«Aare You Safe?»
Going for a swim or taking a dip in the river Aare is part of having fun in summer for the people of Bern. But unfortunately, tricky situations and serious incidents occur every summer as a result of carelessness. After a one-year break the City of Bern and various partner organisations are launching another campaign entitled «Aare You Safe?» to draw people’s attention once again to the hazards and dangers that lurk in and on the river Aare.
The motto «It’s not a game» is meant to convey the message that swimming in a river can be fun – if certain rules are followed. The goal is not to show a warning finger, but to inform in a tongue-in-cheek manner. Furthermore, special attention is to be paid to non-native Aare swimmers and rubber boat users, for example tourists and newcomers to the area.
