Childcare Outside the Family
The City of Bern offers a wide, varied range of childcare outside the family. Children between the age of 3 months and 15 years living in the City of Bern are cared for professionally and appropriately in council-run and private kindergartens / day-care centers cofinanced by the «Youth Welfare Office».

Here you can get the «Letters to Parents» (Pro Juventute; in German, French or Italian) and the guide «Our Baby» for foreign-language parents.
«The Letters to Parents» accompany the parents from the day their children were born until they are six years old. You will find there advice for your beautiful but sometimes arduous task. The bilingual guide «Our Baby» (German, French, Italian, Albanian, Serbian, Portuguese, Spanish, Tamil or Turkish) supports parents with the most important informations about raising their children and the access to services in health promotion, counselling and education.
